The competition assignment lead by Grimshaw included the schematic architectural and landscape design for a thematic museum on a plot of 130,000 sqm. The Shenzhen Mangrove Wetland Museum is planned to become a cultural symbol for the city, and includes live-exhibits, scientific research, entertainment, and educational facilities. A public park connecting the museum to the mountain and waterfront park, the Botanical Garden was part of the design scope. The overall research planning includes the surrounding coastal park, water treatment facility, and transit station for a total of 833.000sqm.
Tekuma Frenchmean developed the overall spatial planning and narrative, with the public realm and water strategy. Water was a thematic, infrastructural, and way-finding layeronto the landscape.
